We will visit the UNESCO world heritage city of Antigua Guatemala, founded in 1543, its architecture is mix of European and Mayan styles with its streets inspired by the Italian Renaissance.
OPTIONAL: climb the active volcano of Volcan del Fuego! An active stratovolcano with small explosions every 15-20 minutes! We have options for those that don’t want to climb but still want to get up close up the volcano OR you can spend another day in Antigua visiting the local markets!
We will also visit Lake Atitlan, dubbed as one of the “most beautiful lakes in the world” by National Geographic. This lake is surrounded by 3 volcanoes and a dozen of Mayan villages!
We will then head to Tikal, another UNESCO site and one of the largest and most impressive ancient Mayan cities with over 3000 buildings and pyramids that rise above the jungle of northern Guatemala!
We will culminate our tour with a stay in the beautiful island of Flores Peten with a tour of lake Peten Itza!
